Here is the last chance of getting a ticket for this year’s UK Barbel Master Qualifier on Friday 5th September. A massive thanks to the A1 pits team for supporting the UK Barbel Masters and our 2 charities. We will be raffling one of their tickets, with all profits going towards this year’s two charities- The Yasmine McClory Foundation and Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance. To buy tickets all you need to do is comment on this post on our Facebook page, ask for how many tickets you want. We will reply with your ticket numbers. Then contact you directly with the bank details were to pay the money for your tickets. Each ticket will be £3 and the lucky winner will get a ticket for the Friday qualifier and 5 raffle tickets for this year’s mega raffle. Entry closes on Friday 14th June at 7pm with the draw live on our Facebook page on Saturday 15th June at 7pm. Good luck everyone.

We now have all places filled, by the reserves, for both the Friday and Saturday qualifiers. The website link below has all the anglers who have paid for each qualifier and a list of reserves in order should anyone withdraw is on the competition rules tab on the website. There are still 2 opportunities to fish the UK Barbel Masters Qualifiers this year for those who were unsuccessful getting drawn, or missed the registration process for a qualifier ticket. On Friday 23rd May we will post details on how to buy raffle tickets to win a Saturday qualifier ticket. This will be run by Ryan on his Barbel Fishing Competitions Facebook page. On Sunday 1st June we will post details on how to buy raffle tickets to win a Friday qualifier ticket donated by A1 pits. This will be run on our Facebook page. The £105 entry fee is now due for all the anglers who were drawn to fish the qualifiers. The successful anglers will receive an email from contact@ukbarbelmasters.com in the next 24 hours with payment instructions. Payments need to be made via a bank transfer to the UK Barbel Masters bank account. Please ensure in the reference when paying you quote your BM number so we can identify who has paid. Each week we will update the list of anglers who have paid on our website. You have until the end of April 2025 to make the payment. If you don’t pay in time your place will be then offered to the reserve list. If you haven’t received the email please contact us via our website page or on Facebook messenger.

The draw for the 2 qualifiers and reserve list took place on the 21st and 22nd March live on Facebook, congratulations to all the lucky anglers. The names have been posted on our Facebook page. All the information on how to pay for the tickets will be posted in the coming weeks on Facebook and on the website.

We said we weren't going to offer any prizes in the qualifiers, but Elevate Baits have kindly offered us some prizes from their Spicy Chorzio range. The biggest barbel caught in the qualifiers plus 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall in each qualifier will receive:- 5kg of Chorizo pellet, 2kg of 15mm Spicy Chorzio boilies, 2kg of Spicy Chorzio crush, 1 x Spicy Chorizo liquid , 1 x Spicy Chorizo Dumbell wafter and 1x Spicy Chorizo pop-up. On the 1st February the registration for the UK Barbel Masters will open. The only way to register is via our website, and we will post more details later in the week. This year will be the biggest UK Barbel Masters so far with increased cash pay-outs, lots more sponsors prizes and a new format with 2 qualifiers then a final.

If you picked up a copy of this week's Angling Times then you may have noticed some big news regarding this year's event. Stay tuned to our website and socials as we release the finalised information very soon with the registration process going live 1 February! We can't wait to start getting the entries in and shaping this year's event.

This week the parents/guardians details will be added to the UK Barbel Masters Catch platform. You will receive an email from Catch confirming this. If you don't have a Catch account you can complete the registration details, if you want. On Saturday 25th or Sunday 26th Jan between 1100 and 1600 hrs we will call you via your mobile telephone number to take the payment for the competition. This will be via the Catch platform and you can pay by either debit or credit card. It will only take a few minutes to do. The mobile number we will call you on will end 4209. If you want to pay outside these dates/times please message us on Facebook.

Detail about this years UK Barbel Masters will be published in the Angling Times on the 21st January 2025. Registration will open on the 1st Feb and close on the 28th Feb. A live draw will then take place in March. Registration will only be via our website and more details will be posted on here and our Facebook page before the registration opens.

Massive thanks to Gav at Leigh Tackle and Bait who has given us some additional prizes for the UK Junior Barbel Masters. The under 16 overall winner will get 2 barbel rods and the 16 to 18 overall winner a £100 voucher from them. Gav has also kindly offered to help us with our charity prize draw.

Entries for the Junior Barbel Masters open from midnight tonight until 5th January 2025. Please make sure you review the Junior Barbel Masters rules and entry requirements before you enter on the UK Junior Barbel Masters page on the website. Entries are via the contact us section of the website. A reminder that if you try to enter before midnight or after 5 January you will not be entered into the draw.

Any entries before the 15th Dec or after the 5th Jan will not be accepted in the draw. All names will then go into a live draw that will take place on the Saturday 11th January 2025 on our Facebook page. Well what can we say about this one? Following recent discussions with Dynamite Baits, we are delighted to announce that they have agreed to put in over £2,000 worth of prizes to support both the UK Barbel Masters and the Junior UK Barbel Masters. £1,200 worth of prizes will be for our junior competition and every angler will get themselves a free Dynamite Baits goody bag. We can't express our gratitude enough to all at Dynamite Baits and we can't wait to work with you guys in line with the competitions.

The UK Barbel Masters 2024 changed venues and it was moved to A1 pits "Home of the UK Barbel Masters" on the River Trent in Newark. A total of 46 barbel caught by 26 different anglers out of the 100 anglers competing in the 42 hour match in October 2024. Congratulations to Lewis Kennedy who was the 2024 UK Barbel Masters. Lewis fished in A section, peg 20, catching 9 barbel for an overall weight of 84lb 10oz. He also won the biggest fish with a 13lb 7oz barbel and a new personal best. Congratulations to all the prize winners. Second Biggest Fish: Clinton Clouting in C section peg 63 with a 11lb 12oz barbel. Section A: 1st Alan Stuart peg 15 with 3 barbel for 28lb 6 1/1oz. 2nd Robert House aka Barbel Bob peg 17 with 3 barbel for 28lb. 3rd Nigel Metcalfe peg 19 with 2 barbel for 15lb 14oz. Section B: 1st Lee Burton peg 43 with 3 barbel for 32lb 14 1/2oz. 2nd Sam Ambler peg 47 with 2 barbel for 17lb 6oz. 3rd Dave Hough peg 40 with 2 barbel for 14lb 14oz. Section C: 1st Clinton Clouting peg 63 with 1 barbel of 11lb 12oz. 2nd Piotr Wojdyla peg 65 with 1 barbel of 9lb 5oz. 3rd Ian Pattison peg 73 with 1 barbel of 6lb 11 1/2oz. Section D: 1st Andy Denny peg 100 with 2 barbel for 16lb 8oz. 2nd Harry Smith peg 82 with 2 barbel for 15lb 13oz. 3rd Lisa Loveridge peg 81 with 1 barbel of 11lb 1oz.

In 2023 the UK Barbel Masters moved to the River Severn at Montford Bridge. 60 anglers completed over 3 sections in really difficult conditions with a very low and clear River Severn. Unfortunately, there were only 2 barbel caught in the 36 match. Congratulations to Sam Ambler who landed a 6lb 15oz barbel from peg 48 in section 3. The other barbel caught was by Lisa Loveridge with a 2oz barbel in section 1.

In 2022 the UK Barbel Masters was held on the River Trent on 3 Ashfield Angling stretches – section 1 was the Ferry Field, section 2 was Nelsons Field and section 3 was the Rack with 20 anglers in each section. The overall winner was Daniel Clarke who caught 49lb 2oz of barbel from peg 32 on Nelsons Field. Section 1 was won by Richard Brown on peg 18 with 30.1, 2nd was Michael Wasilewsk on peg 4 with 24.1, 3rd was Sean Corbett on peg 16 with 22.14. Sean also won the biggest fish with a 14lb barbel. Section 2 was won by Martin Folkes on peg 38 with 9.10, 2nd was Henry Stevenson on peg 21 with 5.10, 3rd was Matt Broadhurst on peg 27 with 3.10. Section 3 was won by Richard Edmunds on peg 55 with 12.0, 2nd was Liam Biseheom on peg 54 with 5.12 and 3rd was James Whyte on peg 45 with 5.0.

In 2021 was the first UK Barbel Masters competition with 60 anglers competing over 3 sections on the River Trent at Ashfield Angling’s Ferry Field was section 1, Gunthorpe Lock Fishery/Penton Field were section 2 and Newark Rack were section 3. The overall winner was Terry Eden who caught 32lb 8oz of barbel from peg 1 on Gunthorpe. Section 1 was won by Dan Murgtroyd on peg 20 with 23.01, 2nd was James Whyte on peg 2 with 22.3, 3rd was Lisa Loveridge on peg 13 with 19.12. Section 2 was won by Jacek Galikowski on peg 6 with 23.3, 2nd was Przemyslaw Loj on peg 14 with 22.1, 3rd was Andrew Cunningham on peg 5 with 11.4. Section 3 was won by Liam Willis on peg 10 with 15.0, 2nd was Artur Adamus on peg 5 with 14,14 and 3rd was Matt Corser on peg 17 with 7.8. Liam Willis also won the biggest fish with a 15lb barbel.
